Henson 5000 Software Upgrade

In order to take advantage of the patient response-time tracking and new Multi Sampling test in the later versions of the software, there is a bowl hardare modification that is necessary (bowls after serial number 400579 do not need to be modified) to provide the timing information needed by the software.

These features can be disabled in the software if the bowl is not upgraded.
A new printer with a 32 bit printer driver is also required.
(The printers are supplied at a reduced cost on an exchange basis)

This service pack fixes an anomaly where the incorrect defect scales are produced on a database printout.
This only affects software that was upgraded from version 3.14 using the one disk "314_2_ 315" upgrade.

Important Note:- If you are replacing a laptop/PCwith a brand new one, then you will probably have the Windows 2000 or XP operating system installed. This means that you may not be able to operate your system by changing the software alone.
There are 2 issues, firstly, 2000/Xp does not allow direct free access to the Serial communication ports as 95/98 did and therefore this interferes with the commands to the bowl. Secondly, we have discovered that many new laptops either have no serial ports or serial ports that are optimised for very fast transition (which means that they are not very stable at the relatively slow speed we use).

SOLUTION: We have a USB interface cable that the versions of software after 3.22 can talk to directly. There is also a firmware upgrade to the Bowl that may need to be carried out. Follow this link to check your Bowl hardware version and for ordering details.

WARNING; You can only upgrade from versions 2.61 and above. Attempting to upgrade an earlier version of software will cause a malfunction and the software will need to be reset from scratch.

This software is for windows 98 release 2 onwards only. If you have windows 95 then you can load up to version 3.15 (above)
